February 1, 2022 Council Meeting

Council is poised once again to meet this week. Our Regular meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. but there is a Special Council meeting that will be starting at 4:00 p.m. Both will be streamed live on the Township's YouTube Channel and will be there to watch any time following the meeting.

Our Special Council Meeting will welcome Integrity Commissioner Tony Fleming. He will be providing Council with some training regarding our new Procedural By-law, Code of Conduct and his role.

Some of the items that are on the Regular Council agenda:

  • The City of Peterborough is conducting their Eastside Transportation Study which encompasses a good portion of Donwood (to University Road), they have given us notice of a public information centre (PIC) that is currently under way. More information on that is available at https://www.connectptbo.ca/eastsidets.
  • Public Meetings under the Planning Act:
    • Official Plan Amendments for 162 Douro Eighth Line Road
    • Zoning By-law Amendment for 1325 Trappers Lane
  • Building Fees for 2022 - No increases are being proposed
  • Short Term Rentals - This is back as requested by Council late summer Staff are recommending a public meeting on short term rentals (i.e. Air BnBs) to help form a policy governing them. The proposed date is Thursday, April 7th from 5 - 7 p.m.

The full agenda is available on the Township's website.

Also noteworthy, we will be adopting our new Procedural By-law so if you're a regular Council watcher you'll see a slight different flow. Part of that new structure is the adoption of a new Committee of the Whole which is scheduled to meet for the first time on Tuesday, February 8th at 10:00 a.m. with our next Council meeting on Tuesday February 15th at 5:00 p.m.
